PROVINCIAL ORGANIC AGRICULTURE CONGRESS

The Bulacan State University through the project Fostering Robust Organic Agriculture Sustainable Technology (FROAST) in collaboration with the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) launched the first ever 2-day online Provincial Organic Agriculture Congress themed, Mga Organikong Produkto para sa
Malusog na Pamayanan last November 17-18, 2021.

More than 700 students and organic farming practitioners from various municipalities participated in the event. Plenary Speakers include, Dr. Irene M. Adion, DA RFO3-Regional Division Chief and Dir. Bernadette F. San Juan, Director of NOAP.

Dr. Irene M. Adion, shared about the status of organic agriculture in Central Luzon for 2021 highlighting their accomplishments while Dr. Bernadette F. San Juan talked about the role of their agency in the nation wide promotion and propagation of community-based organic agriculture systems.

The event also showcased the testimonial videos of the FROAST farm association beneficiaries as part of the search for the best organic farm site.

Among the 20 finalists, the first prize winner was Talbak Coffee Growers Inc. followed by Munting Paraiso ni Yoli Farm and BIO Farm Training Center Inc. for 2 nd and 3 rd place.

Aside from selected BulSU Administrators, POAC was also graced by Hon. Cynthia A. Villar, Senator of the Philippines, Hon. Daniel R. Fernando, Governor of Bulacan; and Dr. William D. Dar, Department of Agriculture Secretary.

The organic congress is in line with Republic Act No. 10068, which was enacted to promote, propagate, develop, and put into practice the use of organic agriculture in the Philippines.
